Cooking class duo, Food Heroes (Kay Devlin (38) from Stirlingshire and Jenn Clowe (37) from Glasgow) are two highly skilled dietitians with more than 30 years’ experience between them. They offer a range of fun and interactive cookery classes for parents, kids – and, on Friday, MP Jo Swinson who dropped by to meet them and congratulate them on spreading their healthy eating message throughout Scotland.
While the kitchen is normally a grown-ups’ domain, Food Heroes classes are certainly not. The preparation and making of the food is led by the children who become Food Heroes. The classes are not only for those who may not naturally involve their kids in the cooking process, or who don’t spend much time prepping and preparing meals themselves, but also for those interested in giving their kids a great start in life, or just having a bit of fun and getting messy together!
The next two classes take place in Stirling (details below):
Primary School Age (school holiday): Monday 14th Oct, 10:30am-12pm
Pre-schoolers: Friday 1st Nov, 10-11:30am
These classes will be held at KIDZ TOWN Role-Play in Stirling.
The classes normally run in Glasgow and Stirlingshire on Fridays, but Jenn and Kay are looking to expand their remit to cover more areas and hope to begin visiting schools in the near future too.
Co-Founder Jenn says “We have a wide range of recipes that are suitable to be made by our Food Heroes. All allergies are also catered for in our classes - as long as we know in advance, we will tailor our menu to suit.”
“Examples of recipes we use are: Healthy Calzone Pizzas; Cheese & Spinach Scones; Veggie burgers. All recipes can be used by all ages, the level of parental support they need will vary depending on their age”.
